At HOUNDDOG we want to be the best quality whilst having as little impact on the earth as possible. We aim for minimal waste production. We use natural, biodegradable materials wherever we can. We buy full hides and use all off cuts for keyrings, brand labels, and zip pulls. Our leather is veg tanned with chestnut bark , chemical free and non-toxic. Our packaging is recyclable and non-plastic. Our dog beds have ‘Ecobeanz’ a plant-based bean bag fill. And all of this adds to the quality. We can’t do it all but do our best. Sustainable stuff.
HANDCRAFTED
Using craftmanship and sustainable practices we make in small batches to reduce waste and carbon footprint. All our products are handmade in our London Hackney and Whitstable studios so excellent quality is maintained throughout. Our dog bowls are hand thrown, fired and glazed in Clapton, beds individually made to order and all leather hand cut, riveted and burnished for a beautiful finish. And we’re happy to make bespoke sizes on request. Skilful stuff.
BRITISH MADE & SOURCED PREMIUM MATERIALS
We’ve chosen to use the best. No compromise. Premium grade vegetable tanned full-grain English leather from Kettering with solid brass hardware from our West Midlands foundry. Wax twills from UK established Scottish mill Halley Stevenson and British Millerain. Luxurious real sheep wool fleece. Durable stoneware bowls in Staffordshire speckled clay on Solid Oak trays made in Kent. Quality stuff.
MADE TO LAST
HOUNDDOG is about longevity, durability, and excellent value for money without compromising on style. ‘Consider, buy less, invest in the best’. Our products are designed to ensure they age beautifully and stay comfortable. For example, we wanted our dog beds to keep a luxury hand feel and have dig and scratch proof strength, so we did them in a 12oz Artica Rugged twill. We wanted our leather to naturally soften and last whilst developing a unique patina so we protected with natural balms and beeswax. We could go on… Enduring stuff.
PROBLEM SOLVING DESIGN
After extensive research, and a challenging dog, our product is problem solving. Innovative design means Anti-spill feeding stations and bowls with ‘Long Ear’ angled sides to prevent water splash heavier bases for stability. Our O-ring leads reduce wrist strain and can be worn cross body for hands-free in a loose or close fit. City short leads are designed for close control in urban areas. Our travel roll mats are thermally regulating with real sheep fleece , our beds are abrasion & water resistant and machine washable. Clever stuff.
RIGOROUSLY TESTED
Every item designed is relentlessly tested to its limit by our robust German Shorthaired Pointer and pals to ensure maximum durability. She is vigorous in her quality control and won’t tolerate anything but the best, so we create sturdy designs with strength and beauty. Excellent value and less waste. Tough stuff.
RENEW & RECYCLE
Our solid brass hardware stands the test of time but leather, as a natural material, sometimes doesn’t. Occasionally exposure to extreme elements and adventurous life’s rough and tumble can take its toll. Return to us by post to our HOUNDDOG studio and we will reuse your old brass hardware to make your new lead/collar free of charge. Our guarantee to you and the planet. Reviving stuff.
CO-ORDINATED DESIGN
HOUNDDOG grew from the search to find quality, long-lasting, hard-wearing product that is perfect for the wild outdoors but also looks darn good in our homes. You look at your dog, in his collar, on his bed, by his bowls all day… it’s nice when dog accessories and homewear work together. Our workwear and nature inspired palettes look great with contemporary and classic interiors, and clean understated designs have longevity and style.
